Ford Explorer 2026 gets off-road option, 27-inch screen and three turbo engine options

The presentation took place in China, where the model is produced locally, but the global version may have differences.
🚙 Appearance and design
The new Ford Explorer 2026 is easily recognizable by its wider radiator grille and thinner headlights, which are now connected by an LED strip, says the official Ford website.
For the off-road variants (Timberline/Tremor), a more massive body kit, off-road tires and a special grille are provided, emphasizing their “off-road” identity.
🖥 Interior and technology
In the cabin, the main accent is the 27-inch touchscreen, which is combined with a digital instrument panel.
The center console has been redesigned, the finish has become higher quality, and the cabin configurations have remained diverse – for 5, 6 or 7 seats. Thus, the Explorer retains the status of a universal family SUV, able to adapt to different needs.
⚙️ Engines and technology
In China, the model debuted with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with 286 hp.
In other markets, they offer:
a 300-horsepower version of the same engine,
a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo with 400 hp.
All modifications are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
This means that the Explorer remains a powerful and technological SUV that can compete with premium models in its class.
🔍 Analytical context
Explorer is one of Ford’s key SUVs, which is traditionally focused on family buyers who value space and power. The second update of the sixth generation shows that the company seeks to keep the model relevant until the release of the new generation.
The presentation in China is of strategic importance: this market is currently one of the largest for large crossovers. At the same time, the intrigue remains – whether the global version will repeat the Chinese design, or will receive its own accents.
